Upon further checking, it is likely a sub-specie of the Great Horned Owl known as Northern/Subarctic Great Horned Owl, Bubo virginianus subarcticus, according to wikipedia's page.

Haha, I have no idea. There's a couple other animals at the zoo, which are found in and around B.C though. Sort of odd additions, considering what they could bring in.
