Checking further found pretty close match to my blister beetle on bugguide that suggested Nemognatha piazata. http://bugguide.net/node/view/464298/bgi...... However, best match of appearance and description of my spotting found in Insects of the North Woods by Jeffrey Hahn which had Nemognatha lutea lutea.
Yes, that sure looks like a Blue Flag Iris. I also see them in Texas so their range is pretty extensive.
It was photographed late morning.
Well I guess your right - Lily of the valley. One sees largely False Lily of the Valley.
It was only a little caught. You can see the spider in photo 2. I made sure it was free before I left.

It was set on the beach momentarily to get a photo, then it was returned to the ocean and it swam away. Personally, anything dead, I wouldn't count as a spotting.
Our local chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist maintain a photo gallery of species with their name and found other examples of White-striped Longtail skippers
