A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Beautiful!
Updated at your request Aaron. :-)
No I did not.. Their host plants were parsley & celery.. If I put them back the organic farmer I worked for would have eradicated them. Queen Ann's Lace is a prevalent wildflower in our area though, they would have had no trouble finding some..
My pleasure nemitchell, it is a favorite wildflower from my childhood in which I still love today.. It is wonderful in bouquets & you are right the seeds do look similar to carrot seeds. :-)
Looks like an american wildflower called Queen Anne's Lace.. That is what it looks like at the end of it's life cycle. It is a lovely white flower with a reddish black dot in the center & it has a tap root that smells similar to carrots.
I just couldn't pass up the chance to photograph mating frogs. The lovers of a mid-summers night if you will..
Thank You so much Noslen37.. I worked on an organic farm over the summer & kept finding these guys everywhere.. My boss kept saying they were Monarch caterpillars, but I knew without a doubt they weren't. He wanted us to kill them, but I would just put them on my shirt & relocate them away from the crops.. They love to eat parsley & celery. :-)
Thank you Aaron, I have lived in this area of Ohio my entire life but have never seen this caterpillar until this year. It was simply lovely. :-)
