A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I am trying to document all the wildlife on two different family properties - an East Texas tree farm and a Central Texas weekend place.

Sign In to followThank you! Corn snake is not listed in the book I have, Tennant's Snakes of Texas, and I also did not know about the genus name change.
I read the article on Wikipedia. Would you say that this snake's color morph is anerythristic? (another word I did not know before)
Thank you! I would have never figured that out! Now I need to look at my other pictures of frogs and see if any more of them fit that profile.
Thank you! I hear one occasionally in the pond, but I can never spot it, so I was not familiar with this species.
Okay, I will change it. I'm working from Alan Tennant's Texas Snakes from 2006. I did enjoy seeing it and I'm glad I had my camera with me!
Thank you, Luis! I am in awe of your 4,100 spottings! I was aiming for 500 but you have given me a new target. :)
Actually I have been a seasonal park ranger at Big Bend, and my daughter lived in Alpine for 6 years so we went out there a lot - but I never saw one! I will have to head up to the Panhandle.
I have never seen one! So cute!
Okay, that's the other one I thought it might be! Thanks! I wish I had gotten a better picture of his face.
The rat snakes around here stay so busy with swimming in the pond, climbing the trees after nests, and of course, stealing all my chicken eggs, that they are not stressed! :)
