Looks like basil.

David- if possible, it would be interesting to see another spotting of this honeysuckle with fruits. It should be fruiting right about now.

I would start in the Geometridae family. It is a big family, though. Hopefully someone has sharper eyes than me and can offer a specific ID soon.

Honeysuckle, genus Lonicera. Not sure of species, so I don't want to suggest an ID. Good place to start, though.

I posted a spotting of this same bush, though yours looks better. You should tag this in the "Fruiting bodies of the world" mission.

Box Elder is actually Black Maple, Acer negundo. Maple bug is probably just a geographical common name.

Was this taken at the Como Park Conservatory? That is a wonderful garden.

After looking at the spotting more carefully, I see that you have included this spotting in a mission to document hymenoptera. Remember that you can tag a spotting in up to five missions.

There is a mission specifically for wildlife architecture, though I don't have a link to it. It looks like one of the tubes is occupied. Perhaps you could edit your spotting later on, once you have more occupants. This is a great idea!

TimMeyers2 insecto hoja
insecto hoja commented on by TimMeyers2 Zacatecas, Mexico11 years ago

This looks like a Katydid. The family and genus is greatly varied, so I do not want to make an identification suggestion. I would start with grasshopper/locust/katydid.
