A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
If it has been ID'd it makes it easier to access if you change the name to the species.
My group found it in a field on the Mitchel canyon trail. Yeah I have been looking for them but have never found one there, have only seen them in the Mojave, very excited to find my first one sometime!
Thanks! At the moment I can't add/take away missions involved with this picture. Not sure why, the drop down menu won't pop up, but as soon as I get that working I will do that for sure!
Yes in fact they are from the Sutter Buttes!
Sorry again! I wish I got notifications on this when I got comments! Much smaller than expected actually. Our professor who has worked with then for some time discovered that mistletoe was an important component of their diet in the surveyed area , something not previously known. Because of this many of the ringtails had significantly smaller home ranges than ringtails in other areas because they had a stable food supply given by mistletoe in key parts of the year.
Hello! Sorry have not been on Noah for a long time! We were actually doing work with ringtail cats, this little guy just so happened I wander into one our traps. We let the little fellow go with no harm done since it was not related to our study.
Yes! Wow I am sorry I have not used Noah in a long time! I recently completed a field ecology certificate from sacramento city college and one of the professors studied ringtails. We went out trapping and tagged ringtails to do research on their home ranges. I believe this is the ring tail that was caught in my trap. This picture was taken after been tranquilized and right before being tagged.
I would say that is almost indefinitely a harlequin cabbage bug. Google the name to compare pictures.
