The one on the left is the mother.
The male cub is around 2 years old or may be more now.

I know it's not a dangerous insect for sure. When I used to live in New Delhi, we used to see a lot of these beetles in Spring...they used to be all over the place and often find their way into our homes.
Sure, it's brightly colored but that could be it's defense mechanism?
