Hmm, Seema, I don't think it's a poison. The village kids I was with at the time of the photo were playing around with it. Also, it's apparently a widely cultivated herb: http://www.iloveindia.com/indian-herbs/s...

Batocera rufomaculata seems the closest, but I'm still not entirely sure.

It was probably about 40-50cm tall.
