Kathleen, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to since the images are actually both labelled as Downy Woodpecker already (same spotting = same animal/object, regardless of number of images = same heading ID)..or at least that was my understanding. With that said, thank you for your input and vote of confidence. :)
Jellis, I used the size of the bill to identify it as the Downy, as the second photo shows the bill size in comparison to the head slightly better. I also remember seeing the bill size comparison better in the field.
I was also thinking Downy Woodpecker.
