@ alice : it is green tree python
perhaps what you mean as Python month is morelia boeleni.
cmiiw.. :)
based on the carapace spot pattern and the darker line across the eye, i think it is a Pelodiscus sinensis. It is a common species bred in Thailand.
it is quite hard to differ adult florida and spiny softshell. we have to check on the face pattern. when they were young, the carapace patterns are definitely different.
bit i thing they are apalone ferox, not spinifera. spinifera has more round and thinner carapace. please correct me if i'm wrong...
your mom must be very lucky not to step on the snake....
@ chris : are you a herpetologist?
i recently work on indonesian ratsnakes, perhaps i can submit some articles on your magz... :)
snail eating snakes are unique creature, snail eating turtles too...
i'll try to share some pareas photos then...
i think you're right, it has more slender body than the leopard gecko.
furthermore, the leopard geckos are found in asia.. :D
Ahaetulas are fast moving snake too..
it is also considered low/medium venomous snake, its bite might cause swell or just itchy feelling, depends on the amount of the venom and our body's condition, if we're in a fit condition the bite might cause no effect.
these birds are rarely seen here in java, except in a rural region or near forests..
very nice, it looks very similar to ahaetula prasina...
we have pareas carinatus here in indonesia, they should be siblings.. :D
