This little guy was about two inches tall and had a cap that was about an inch

Yah, it does.
It was dead wood.

It was just passed sun fall on a dry day. The liquid was coming for the mushroom (growth) and it was all alone.

It was rather large, even if he was a youngster.
-Wish I had a camera instead of the phone.
