A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
This looks like some kind of Ibis, but I'm not sure of the birds in your area.
I initially identified this tern incorrectly, but after spotting a few more, I was able to get a shot of the white forehead. I also was able to observe their nesting from a distance which helped with the ID. The last photo is of an egg I found approx. 400-500 yards from the nesting grounds, and I suspect was snatched up by a gull who dropped it where it lay.
Love these...and great use of a kayak.
He was about half the size of my thumb. Maybe a little bigger. I just hate I didn't have a macro and overexposed the shots.
Fantastic shot! I think its a Great Blue Heron.
S Frazier, that's probably it. This plant was landscaped and not found in the wetland area where I saw some of the birds I posted recently.
Sorry for the confusion. I saw this at the beach - not in MS as originally posted.
Sorry. Im. Not necessarily female.
I think this may be a female red-headed woodpecker.
Thanks, Cindy. We live across the street from some marshy woods, and until this week, I didn't realize how many different types of dragonflies we had.
