Be careful walking barefoot on the beach where they are washing up. When stretched out the tentacles are thin and not always visible. They have a powerful sting.
Thanks for the comments. I've seen other individuals of this species and pics on the internet. My question is how do the select their camouflage so they all look alike? And what is it?
These eggs were on the same screen that I spotted the Large Tolype Moth on Oct. 23. This moth stayed around this location for a couple of days. I looked at some pictures and now believe this moths laid these eggs.
Thanks for all your ID's Ornithoptera
Thanks pcooper and Ornithoptera. I don't know why I posted this as a bee. I certainly knew it was a fly. I spotted a picture winged fly on July 26 and knew this ones behavior was familiar but just couldn't come up with picture winged.
Thanks ChunXingWong. I certainly didn't look far enough. The narrow pointed abdomen on some Cuckoo bees got my attention.
But I sure did learn a lot about Cuckoo bees.
I also have never been able to upload more than three photos.
Thanks Ornithoptera
