Woodward Academy - Structural and Behavioral Adaptations
I would like to challenge you to find real-world examples of either a structural or behavioral adaptation. Please post an original photograph (one that you took) of the adaptation along with an accurate description of the adaptation including whether it is a structural (physical) or behavioral adaptation. Your description must be correct! For each correct posting, you will receive 3 bonus points on our Interactions test, but I will be reviewing your post for an accurate description of the adaptation (you do not have to correctly identify the species, although that would be great!) Happy hunting!
Adaptations are responses to the environment that help an organism survive. For example, the adaptation may help an organism to get food, to avoid being eaten, or to attract mates. A structural adaptation is a physical characteristic of an organism that helps the organism to survive. A behavioral adaptation is a change in behavior in response to the environment that helps an organism survive.
