Urban Wildlife Awareness (students of Guwahati schools only)
The instructions to this mission are simple:
OBSERVE, RECORD AND REPORT is the primary aim of this mission.
Students are requested to spot, observe, take photographs (if you have a camera) and record your find. You are requested to take notes about the location, surroundings and detail about the place where you have spotted the birds and other animals. Prepare a daily report of whatever you find. An annual report needs to be prepared charting all that you have spotted. While taking the photos of the Urban Wild Life, observe prominent habitat loss that you might come across in that particular area. Report it. It is advisable to carry your Student Identity Cards at all times while doing such surveys.

Its amazing to realize that the Urban Air that we breathe, the Space that we call as 'ours' is also being shared by the less observed, misunderstood Birds and Animals that co-exist within the Urban Space. As was observed by me a year back, the Jorpukhuri, Uzan Bazaar area of Central Guwahati is surging with life. With over 26 different species of Birds spotted by me till date, 6 distinct Amphibian species and a considerable number of insects and butterflies had compelled me to think and re-think on the need to proper awareness and conservation studies of the Urban Wild Life."Urban Wildlife Awareness" is essentially a Student Mission which would encourage school students to Observe, Spot, Record and Report the Wild Life they encounter in or near the Urban Space, throughout the year. Participation to this Project is open to eager students from any schools in the city of Guwahati. Contribution is encouraged in the form of reports, charts, photographs and videos.
