Screw Pine

Pandanus sp.

Description:

That is a mature fruit of screw pine. I just found it naturally at that condition, very lucky! Big screw pine, reach more than 2-3 meters height. They have spine in the leaf margin.

Habitat:

Beach - almost found at the small island where this one found.

We have 2 native varieties of screw pine... the bigger one is edible... the smaller one give your mouth a nasty itch... luv the taste of this fruit... :-)

Thanks Lars! May be about 20 cm in diameter, not measured directly.
