Waterfall Carp

Neolissochilus stracheyi

Description:

about 30cm

Habitat:

Tropical freshwater. Inhabits clear forested streams and rivers. Occurs in swift flowing streams.

Notes:

I spotted these fish at Erawan National Park. The park has an amazing 7 tiered waterfall with pools for swimming at the base of them. These fish live in large numbers in most of these pools. They are basically fearless and use to large numbers of people as the park is pretty busy with large tour groups that come to swim for a couple of hours and then leave. I swam a lot here and whenever I stayed still for more than a couple of seconds, these fish would start to nibble on me!
