American Red Squirrel

Tamiasciurus hudsonicus

Description:

This is just one of the many little red squirrel I have invading my yard and feeders. The second photo was of him grazing away in my feeder and the first is after I opened the window and scared him onto my deck. This is the same little one that loves to eat the grape jelly and orange marmalade I put out hoping that the orioles (spelling) had returned.

I think you are right. There are 10 species of squirrels in Wisconsin and in looking into it further, it looks to be a Little red squirrel. They don't get much bigger than the one in my photo. He is slightly bigger than a chipmunk and no stripes. I have a bunch of these guys. They are probably from the same litter.

I think that is a red squirrel not a chipmunk. Chipmunks have stripes.
