Yeah this one is a fly (with 2 wings). I'm not sure if there's some mimicry going on with the Harpobittacus - they always appear around the same time and look very similar in size and colour. I haven't seen H around yet though... maybe a little more warm weather. Here's another Tas sighting with a comment from TonyD https://www.flickr.com/photos/49117104@N...

Leptotarsus might be a genus to check.

Hey Charlie I think this is a Tipulidae (Dipteran) as I can only see two wings. The Mecoptera are 4 winged creatures (not flies).
