Iris aerobicly
Marsh iris is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Iris family (Iridaceae), 0.6–1.5 m high.the Rhizomes are unevenly thickened, short (up to 10 cm), sloping, branched, segmented, with cord-like roots extending from the nodes below. The root of the iris has the name "violet root" because of the corresponding aroma. The stems are cylindrical, flattened, and branched at the top. Leaves are broad-xiphoid, sharp, grayish-green, webbed along the edge. The lower leaves are equal in height to the stems, 1-3 cm wide, vaginal or stalk-embracing. Stem-shorter. The flowers are large, light yellow in color, with a simple six-divided perianth. Marsh iris is a good honey plant. In its flower, 1 petal, 1 stamen and 1 pistil form a single whole. Pollinating insects respond to these three parts of the flower as separate flowers and visit them in turn. For the full inflorescence consists of 4 to 12 flowers. Marsh iris blooms in June and July.Fruits are multi-seeded, three-sided, three-lobed boxes of oblong-oval shape with a short spout. Fruits ripen in August-September.
On the territory of Ukraine, marsh iris is found everywhere, with the exception of high-altitude areas. In Belarus, it grows everywhere without exception, and in Russia, iris can be found in the European part. In Ukraine, it is found in large numbers in Polesie, less often in the forest-Steppe, and in the steppe regions-mainly in the basins of the Dnieper, Northern Donets, Southern bug, rarely the Dniester and Tisza rivers. Marsh iris is a typical coastal plant that grows only on wet soils. It chooses swamps, riverbanks, ponds, and lakes as its habitat.
