Austral Parakeet

Enicognathus ferrugineus

Description:

This is the most southern parakeet of Argentina. It is common in the Lakes areas of Los Andes mountains. This parakeet tolerates the extreme conditions of could Winter. This bird belongs to the family Psittacidae, order Psittaciforms.

Habitat:

Picture was taken in Lago Laccar, in San Martin de los Andes. Neuquén province. The ecosistem correspond with austral forest. I had the chance to observe this birds in Chubut province, 600 km from this place to the south.
