Brown Anole

Anolis sagrei

Notes:

Someone will suggest this is a Brown Anole too. However, this has what looks to be a more prominent ridged eyering and what looks like a crest! How many different looks could a Brown Anole have?

Despite the differences you mentioned, the dark "spokes" pattern coming off of the eye (in particular the thick one at the back of the eye) seem to be a give away for A. sagrei. Of course the dewlap color would be the best identifier.

I have been looking into it as well, since I wasn't sure about the crested anoles.

I found this on anolebook.com:

"Convertible Back Crest. Many male anoles erect a dorsal crest to make an impression on their competitors. The whole idea is to appear as large as possible and strike fear in the opponent. When calm again, the anole just lowers the convertible top and reverts to normal appearance!"
