well! so it's probably this one! :)
yes I've just seen some photos and it's very similar to C.albidus

Hi Patricia, it appears that Cistus incanus is found naturalized in several counties in California including San Diego.

it's very similar to Cistus albidus, but I'm not sure of the distribution ( is a species of the Mediterranean basin)
