Eurema alitha
Underside of wings were yellow & lime green. The top of its wings were yellow & black, though this was the only shot I was able to get.
Beach.
Thank you for the lovely comments & thank you bayucca for the ID & all the information :)
Nice shot... Grass Yellows commonly seen wandering on low level Tridax daisy flowers here in India too.
Sorry, I did a misspelling!! It should be Scalloped Grass-Yellow, not scalopped. I always mixed it up with my favourite Italian meal: Scaloppine al limone ;-)...
There are several Euremas in your area. I think it is Eurema alitha, due to the colors you described and the strong markings on the forewing, which are partly hidden. The backlight is confusing for colors but the upperside markings are sometimes well visible even in a ventral shot. Eurema brigitta is also very close, but has in my eyes more regular markings at the margin of the forewing. These 2 are the only ones with a black margin on the hindwing as well. Eurema hecabe has identical markings on the forewing, but the hindwing black margin is missing.
