Field Thistle

Cirsium discolor

Description:

A long thick spiny stem from which pointy pods sprout out at the top with prickly spikes jut out. It is from this bud that a pink flower blossoms.

Habitat:

They are very common in florida but they are found in an abundance everywhere in the U.S. There are many differnt ypes of thistles but this is called the field thistle, hits the name, these can be found in fields, and lawns, and some forests. It is not native to the U.S. It came along with may other thistles that originated in europe and date back to Classical age of Rome. They were believed to have been brought by the Scottish. In Scotland there are an influx of them.
