Pandion haliaetus
Four (4) Osprey fishing in Love Creek.
Tidal creek. Rehoboth Bay watershed. Mix of scrub-shrub, freshwater tide marsh, surrounded by farmland and woods.
Glide around (photo1), hover with some wing flapping, then a dive. Sit in the water (trying to get a good grasp?), and then a struggle to take off with the catch. Sometimes would take several attempts to get out of the water (photo2). If the catch was dropped, another immediately swooped in for a meal. Catch was taken either into a tree (photo3) or onto stumps the creek's edge.
