Chlaenius bimaculatus
20 mm
Garden
Can anyone I.D. this Ground Beetle please Thanks bayucca for the correct I.D.
Thanks bayucca.
After trawling through Carabidae of the World before asking for help I failed to find this species. But you are right I think it does look like C. bimaculatus. By the way did you see my post on the 20th Nov. Another ground Beetle I could not find. Thanks for the links, they are always useful. My unidentified folder for Thailand is almost as big as my Named Species folder. When I clicked on a couple of the links I was denied access even though I was logged in ???
Carabidae, Licininae, Chlaeniini, Chlaeniina, Chlaenius (genus), Pachydinodes (subgenus). Looks like being Chlaenius posticalis, but the range is not indicated for Thailand, so you have to get more information about Posticalis. Match is quite good, besides the missing Thai range.

OK, I found much more Chlaenius sp. in Asia (and the world). I leave my links above and suggest another species: Chlaenius bimaculatus!

Sorry for the mess with links and pictures and species. I think Chlaenius bimaculatus is the better match for yours. Please check!
