Five-lined skinks and broad-headed skinks are quite similar when they're younger, so if you happen to have the lizard in-hand (like you did with this one), you can count upper labial scales. For a quick way to count those, see the image that's provided by this link:

This little guy is actually a reptile called a skink! I'm fairly certain it's the five-lined skink :) Nice spotting, I like his interesting tail!
