Camel's Foot Tree

Bauhinia purpurea

Description:

Tall tree with pretty pinkish-purple flowers. Leaves are like two oval halves stuck together.

Habitat:

We had stopped at atraffic sign and I looked out to spot this tree...the flowers caught my eye.

Notes:

Also called Butterfly tree, Pink butterfly tree, Purple bauhinia, Purple butterfly tree, and Purple orchid tree. Kachnar in Hindi. Buds are edible.
