A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ardea cinerea
It is a large bird, standing up to 100 cm (39 in) tall and measuring 84–102 cm (33–40 in) long with a 155–195 cm (61–77 in) wingspan.[2] The body weight can range from 1.02–2.08 kg (2.2–4.6 lb).[3] Its plumage is largely grey above, and off-white below. Adults have a white head with a broad black supercilium and slender crest, while immatures have a dull grey head. It has a powerful, pinkish-yellow bill, which is brighter in breeding adults. It has a slow flight, with its long neck retracted (S-shaped). (wikipedia)
Around any kind of water – garden ponds, lakes, rivers and even on estuaries. Sometimes, grey herons circle high up into the sky and can be mistaken for large birds of prey. (RSPB)

Would be great if we could search for missions by country or cities. Would make finding out the names of things much easier if you can look at spottings from similar areas.
Duh doi! That'll teach me to pay more attention! Thanks for joining anyway ;) Now that they got rid of the map, seems more important to have groups like this (not that the map was extremely helpful before anyway!).
Hi Luke, unfortunately this isn't in Indonesia but London. I've joined the group and will add any bird spottings I have in Indonesia.
Hey travellingchez! Please consider adding this photo to the Birds of Indonesia group: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1774...
