Hello. I moved this from "other" to Arthropods, since it is an insect, a beetle. I also removed your common name because that space is reserved for ... common name. In order to indicate that you want help to ID a species, there is a tick box right beside the common name. I will tick that for you. :-)

Was the back a metallic green color with rainbow- colored edging? If so, it's a beetle known as a Fiery Searcher, Calosoma scrutator.
