Fragile forktail

Ishnura posita

Description:

This female fragile forktail was in the grass behind the tower. There were many fragile forktails in the area along with some variable dancers. Identification of this damselfly can be difficult. Notice the interupted antihumeral stripe and the coloring on segments one and two of the abdemon.

Habitat:

This is a grassy area about 70 yards from the main body of water at huntley meadows. The day was cool and the damselflies were soaking up the sun with very little activity.
