Description:

Brownish black caterpillar with 2 rows of orange red tubercles on its back, darker ones on the sides.

Habitat:

Feeding on a wooly pipevine. The caterpillars eat gregariously when young.

Notes:

Caterpillars eat various pipe vines, (Aristolochia spp) which makes them distasteful to predators, who learn to avoid them.
