Varied Thrush

Ixoreus naevius

Description:

The varied thrush has a grey back and breast band and an orange breast and belly. These birds forage for insects in the summer and berries and seeds in the winter.

Habitat:

Varied Thrushes breed in dark understories of humid evergreen and mixed forests along the Pacific Coast. In the winter, many move into dense parks, gardens, and backyards. Varied Thrushes are rare but regular winter visitors to the Upper Midwest and Northeast. These birds are commonly found in the Cascades, Northern Rockies, and the Pacific Coast

Notes:

This bird is pretty rare to see in Idaho, so I was pretty proud of myself for finding it and getting a decent picture.
