Protoreaster nodosus
About 25cm large, 5 bold arms pale colour, with black conical spikes arranged in a single row, radially on the dorsal side.
Spotted at Nusa Dua, Bali during low tide, costal reef area.
These dark protrusions are used to scare away possible predators, by looking frightening or dangerous. Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Echinodermata Class: Asteroidea Order: Valvatida Family: Oreasteridae Genus: Protoreaster Species: P. nodosus
