I think he is a groundhog. Thanks for all your help everyone!

He was too far from water to be a beaver, he ate grass and lived under my porch, where porcupines live in trees.

Looks like a baby porcupine. What does the tail look like? Does it have fur on it? How long is it in relation to the body length?
