Actually, this is not a Roach at all it's a Giant Water Bug! These are predatory insects that will eat anything that they can grab with those front legs. That includes small fish and tadpoles to frogs and small birds! They should be handled carefully as they can bite.

I can't tell you the species but the genus is Lethocerus. The different species are very similar in appearance. Here are a couple of links that might help with an ID.
