Golden-headed Lion Tamarin

Leontopithecus chrysomelas

Description:

A small island habitat similar to the one we have back home in Independence. This one is at the Tulsa Zoo's rainforest building, and these are golden headed lion tamarins. They're super cute and energetic. I'm fascinated by our less evolved cousins so seeing them is always a treat.

Habitat:

Endemic to Brazil. It is found only in the lowland and premontane tropical forest fragments in the state of Bahia.

Notes:

These where my girlfriend's favorite animal out of our trip.
