Brown feathers, slightly darker beak, about 5 inches in length.
Open wooded area near a pond.
The picture is definitely not the best. It was really hard to even get this because this bird was especially startled by my presence.

Oh so sorry... my eyesight is struggling too lol.
But in conclusion the photo isn't flipped upside down.
No actually the bird landed on a branch that was above the water. So the water is reflecting the nearby house upside down. My bad for the confusion.
