Clathrus ruber
I found this mushroom under the Red Wood trees. It was attracting a lot of flies. The color of the fruit body, which can range from pink to orange to red, results primarily from the carotenoid pigments lycopene and beta-carotene. The gleba has a fetid odor, somewhat like rotting meat, which attracts flies and other insects to help disperse its spores.

I didn't mean to disparage your fungus! It just didn't look so lovely to me; I'm sure the fungus fans will love it! :>)
Thanks for taking a look Maria.
Maria, except for the flies it is quite lovely looking. Where are my mushroom lover friends? This is a find they would like!! Looks like they are away for the weekend.
Interesting (though perhaps not lovely) spotting!
This belongs to the Stinkhorn family.
