Eucalyptus leaf galls

Description:

Some of the leaves of this young eucalyptus plant were covered with spikey outgrowths that made the leaves feel like sandpaper with spikes. Each gall was about a millimeter or less in height with a broad base which flattened to a sharp blade like edge. These were sharp enough to cut skin. Galls were seen on both sides of the leaves.

Habitat:

Eucalyptus leaves. This is probably a young Eucalyptus tricarpa or E.microcarpa

Notes:

These galls might be made by male gall insects - not sure of the ID.

Martin, I know these photos are not up to scratch but, I could not get any better shots of these. Do you recognise these galls ? - very sharp like little chisels.
