A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
This plant was not able to be identified, but hopefully this description will help. This plant has thin leaf stems, maybe a little thinner than a wooden pencil. It's leaves vary in colors and shades of green and yellow, and in this picture some parts of the leaves are dead/ dying (indicated by brown). It's leaves have multiple points on them and each point is about 2-3 inches wide. There is an average of 15 points on each leaf. The leafs are very flimsy and do not seem to be very sharp either. Each leaf has 2-3 stripes, which appear to be midribs. There were neither visible fruits nor flowers. This plant is surrounded by native Hawaiian plants (lauaʻe, tī).
This plant was found at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama. Because this plant was unidentifiable, its habitat and origins cannot be stated. However, this plant was growing near native Hawaiian plants in tropical conditions. The soil in which this plant was growing seemed to be moist.
This plant is most likely a native Hawaiian species of flora.
