This Orchid hybrid between Vanda teres and Vanda Hookeriana .It has the unique distinction of being the only nation to have a hybrid as its national flower .This orchid named after Agnes Joaquim who found the orchid in a clump of bamboo and was chosen as Singapore's national flower in 1981 . Vanda Miss Joaquim bloom throughout the year and it requires full sunlight, free air movement, high humidity to achieve optimum growth and flowering. Uses - more symbolic than utilitarian.
