Bats

Chiroptera

Notes:

I have a question. Do bats have a memory? Last summer I "befriended" a bat. It had a huge size. Maybe 3-4 feet in length. First time this bat encircled around my chair which was under its tree, I was terrified. The next few time I looked forward when it would as that would mean its evening and getting dark. After a few month, there was a huge storm and some 50 trees in that vicinity were reported uprooted or destroyed. The next evening the tree at my common backyard had visitors. A roost of 5-6 rather large bats. I took it as a photo op and stationed myself with my camera near a netted window. Suddenly one bat started circling around in the open space coming rather close to my window, making some sounds as if saying something. I felt it was the same bat, my friend. The flock left after a few days. Never spotted again. The picture above is of another roost.

What a sweet-sad story. Bats are mammals....I would not be surprised.
