Chafer beetle

Phyllopertha horticola

Description:

Is green with copper brown wings. It is a smaller relative of the Cockchafer or May Bug. Adults abound in late June, when they chew the leaves of numerous plants and cause much damage to fruit trees. They like to eat leaves of cherry trees and roses. The larvae are like those of the cockchafer and they have the same habits, but they complete their life cycle in one year. The larvae are considered a pest as well, because they feed on the roots of different crops and grasses.
