I would say the bloom was about 4" in diameter if that helps and I'm fuzzy on what the leaves looked like.

I'm inclined to say this is a peony, but without a sense of the relative size of the flower or the type of leaf or the habit of the plant, I can't say for sure. Peonies are blooming about now.
