Great shot! You are right, it is some species of robber fly. As it is unlikely you will be able to get down to exact species level with this view I suggest you add the genus name - Asilidae in the scientific name box for now & them update it if you are able to get a match. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asilidae
