Fiery Searcher

Calosoma scrutator

Description:

Shiny, colorful beetle with green carapace with orange and irredescent blue accents on head & legs. These insects eat caterpillars in droves. The beetle eats/hunts in the day time while the beetle's larvae hunts caterpillars at night.

Notes:

Discovered this Fiery Searcher stuck in the ground. After he hadn't moved in two days, I realized he was stuck and freed him (see video).
