Description:

A cold-hardy perennial wetland plant that can grow in large colonies. The blooms are often as large as a saucer. Most blooms have a deep rose eye

Habitat:

Bog or wet areas. It is found in wetlands and along the riverine systems of the southeastern United States from Texas to the Atlantic states, its territory extending northward to southern Ontario.

Notes:

The garden is about half an acre of native plants specifically planted for wildlife. The main water source is a pond that is filtered by two gravel streams. It is on a peninsula by Lake Lewisville, TX.
