Large Milkweed Bug

Oncopeltus fasciatus

Description:

Brightly patterned orange and black bug.

Habitat:

It was on a Green Milkweed Vine in my yard which has plants chosen to attract wildlife.

Notes:

Adults and larvae are found on milkweeds. They feed in the seeds. Their bright colors warn potential predators of their bitter taste due to their diet.
